The MOLSafePay Process - Frequently Asked Questions
1.
How does MOL SafePay work?

MOL SafePay is a six-step process. It protects the Buyer by allowing receipt and inspection of the merchandise before payment, and protects the Seller by verifying funds. For an overview, click here to view the five-step guide.

2.
How long does the MOL SafePay process take?

It depends on

  1. The inspection period agreed upon by both Buyer and Seller;
  2. The Buyer’s payment method;
  3. Delivery time from Seller to Buyer, generally most MOL SafePay transactions can take from 5 days to 20 days.
3.
How much is MOL SafePay’s service fee?

The MOL SafePay service fee is RM2 or 2% of the total amount purchased (inclusive of shipping), whichever is higher.

For example, if the value of merchandise is RM500 and the shipping costs RM50, the total amount is RM550 and 2% of RM550 is RM11 thus, the MOL SafePay service fee is chargeable at RM11.

If the value of merchandise is RM5 and the shipping costs RM1, the total amount is RM6, and 2% of RM6 is RM0.12. RM2 is higher than RM0.12 thus, the MOL SafePay service fee is chargeable at RM2.

10.
Are there any special issues to consider when dealing with intellectual property such as software or patents?

Yes. The Seller must provide the Buyer appropriate documentation to prove ownership and rights to transfer. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, the following: software licensing documentation, appropriate software installation and/or registration keys and codes, ownership transfer forms, patents, copyright forms from the relevant government agency, etc.

In addition, we strongly recommend that the Seller draw up an ownership transfer document stating specifically what intellectual property is being traded and containing the signatures of both the Buyer and Seller. Some of our customers have their attorneys draw up such documents although this may not be necessary in any given case.

11.
Does MOL SafePay service have a limit on transaction size?

Amendments can be made on the transaction detail screen after signing onto safepay.mol.com only when the status is waiting for you to agree. If you are waiting for the other party to agree, only that party has access to the “modify” button. Once both parties have agreed to the details, they must email their change request to enquiry@mol.com. Changes after the terms have been agreed to must have the consent of both Buyer and Seller before being consider valid and effective.

16.
How do Buyers or Sellers cancel transactions?

Prior to the agreement of terms by both parties, the Buyer or Seller can cancel the transaction by clicking the cancel button on the transaction detail screen. Once both parties have confirmed the transaction details in the Agreement step, either party may cancel the transaction, only if the Buyer has not made payment, by sending an email request to enquiry@mol.com. After funds are secured, the cancellation of a transaction can only be done by MOL SafePay after notifying both parties. The Buyer may reject the transaction during the inspection period after receiving the merchandise, but the Buyer is still responsible for shipping the merchandise back to the Seller, and for paying any MOL SafePay fees if applicable.

In addition, we may, at our sole discretion, refuse to complete any transaction that we have reason to believe is unauthorized or made by someone other than you, may violate any law, rules or regulation, or if we have reasonable cause not to honour it.

22.
Is the Seller required to transfer the domain to the Buyer's registrar?

No. Most domain name ownership transfers can be completed at the domain’s current registrar. After the Buyer gains control and instruct MOL SafePay to release the funds, the Buyer can transfer the domain to a registrar of choice. However, with the Seller’s agreement, the domain can be transferred to the Buyer’s receiving registrar before funds are released.

The Buyer should reject the domain transaction on MOL SafePay if complete control cannot be determined. MOL SafePay suggests using an ICANN accredited registrar.
